KCNQ2 e.V. donates €10,000 to Prof. Dr. Sarah Weckhuysen’s Research Group

The KCNQ2 e.V. is proud to announce a donation of €10,000 to support the research group of Prof. Dr. Sarah Weckhuysen at the University Hospital of Antwerp (UZA). Prof. Weckhuysen and her team are among the world’s leading scientists studying KCNQ2-related epileptic encephalopathies (KCNQ2-DEE).

Her research includes several major projects, notably the EU-funded initiative BEATKCNQ (Better Epilepsy Therapy by targeting KCNQ2), which aims to deepen the understanding of KCNQ2 biology and to explore new therapeutic options.

In a recent personal call, representatives of KCNQ2 e.V. personally informed Prof. Weckhuysen about the donation. She expressed her gratitude and enthusiasm, underlining the importance of collaboration between families, patient organizations, and researchers to drive meaningful progress in KCNQ2 research.

With this donation, KCNQ2 e.V. aims to promote new research projects that contribute to a better understanding of KCNQ2-DEE and to the development of targeted treatments in the future.
